Jessica Hynes plays Holly.
"Holly grows over the serise," says Jessica, "And that is a thrill to
play." She adds; " On top of that, she's more troubled than anyone
I've played recently, so that adds another layer for me as an actress.
She's not troubled in a terminal way, it's just a difficult period in
her life."
Jessica does not see the cause of Holly's problems as unusual,
although her behaviour might be: "Holly's behaviour is rooted, in her
lack of self esteem. She is in love with someone who is not, and
neaver will be in love with her but she has allowed herself to be
eaten away by this realtionship. She has settled for being the 'best
friend' and as long as Bob's sexual relationships are mostly quite
breif, she has remained closest to him. Next best thing. Then Rose
comes along, " She continues, "and threatens to seriously change the
dynamics. This makes Holly desperate and in her pain, prepared to do
almost anything." Jessica Hynes is the award-winning co-writer and
co-star of Channel 4's hit sitcom Spaced and has also played Cheryl in
three series of The Royle Family.
